SMART Recovery

SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) has run for three decades as a nonprofit alternative to traditional 12-step approaches, emphasizing self-empowerment over higher-power concepts. Meetings happen both in person and online, covering alcohol, drugs, gambling, and other addictive behaviors with no membership fees or required readings.

The program uses cognitive and motivational techniques grounded in research, helping participants build skills to identify and change the thoughts that drive addictive behavior. It's designed for people who want structured group support but prefer a secular, self-directed framework.
