The four pillars the app works through are awareness, connection, insight, and purpose. Each one is taught through a combination of short educational audio and accompanying meditation practices, so you understand the reasoning behind each technique rather than just following instructions. The approach has roots in both neuroscience and Buddhist meditation traditions.

The app is free and available by donation. It covers up to 600 days of content, far more than most users will reach. Because it comes out of an active research institution, the practices are more precisely described and more carefully studied than in most commercial apps. It’s a slower-paced experience than Calm or Headspace, better suited to people who want depth over variety.
