The Schizophrenia and Psychosis Action Alliance runs peer support groups for individuals living with schizophrenia, psychosis, and related disorders, as well as separate groups for family members and caregivers. Groups meet regularly both in-person and online, facilitated by trained peers with lived experience. The alliance also advocates for people affected by psychotic disorders and provides educational resources about recovery and symptom management.
This community serves both the person experiencing psychosis and their family members, recognizing that schizophrenia affects entire systems. It's particularly valuable for caregivers who often feel isolated or blamed, and for individuals ready to connect with peers but hesitant about clinical settings. The dual focus on individuals and families makes it more comprehensive than peer groups centered on just one perspective.
