CanCare connects cancer patients and caregivers with over 500 trained peer mentors, most of them cancer survivors themselves. The program offers both one-on-one peer support matches and online support groups organized by specific cancer types, treatments, and life stages. Mentors provide emotional support, practical advice from lived experience, and connections to additional cancer resources based on individual needs.

CanCare is strong for people newly diagnosed with cancer who want to talk with someone who's been through similar treatment or side effects. The one-on-one model works well for those who prefer individual connection over group settings, while the cancer-specific groups appeal to people facing the same diagnosis. This approach differs from general therapy by emphasizing shared experience and practical know-how rather than clinical expertise.
